Wonder Looper Amami Hand Dyed ELS Recycled Cotton Slub T-Shirt Sharinbai + Doro Shibori

These T-shirts combine a range of materials and techniques to create a distinctive garment. The 280 GSM jersey fabric is knit from a blend of recycled cotton collected during the yarn-spinning process, offcuts from Double Heavyweight T-shirts, and premium extra-long staple cotton. Knit at low tension and slow speed, the result is a soft, bouncy fabric with a rich slubby texture throughout. Production takes place entirely in Japan.

The textured surface interacts especially well with natural dyeing, as variations in the fabric absorb color at different rates, adding depth and dimension. Each garment is hand-dyed in Amami, an island chain in southern Japan known for its centuries-old dyeing traditions.

A layered dye process is used to create a unique, one-of-a-kind finish. Using shibori (a tie-dye technique), each T-shirt is bound and dyed in stages: first with the warm, rosy Sharinbai wood dye; then with a combination of Sharinbai and Amami’s iron-rich dorozome mud dye; and finally with repeated dorozome immersions that gradually deepen the tone into an almost black shade.

The Crewneck T-Shirt features a modern athletic fit, a binder neck ribbed collar, Union Special flat side seam construction, and is made in Japan.
